Science Rules: Fizzing Madness!!
We have been having lots of fun experimenting with science and colour! We recently did a well-known experiment involving vinegar, baking soda and food colouring.
I asked the Junior Kindergartens what they would say if they had to drink vinegar and they all replied with “YUCK!”.
We tried orange food colouring mixed with vinegar and a little bit of baking soda. The results were not as exciting as we thought they would be.
We tried it with the blue food colouring instead and a little more baking soda.
Some of the things the kids thought would happen were:
~ it will mix and turn white
~ it will spill all over and turn brown
~ it will spill all over and turn black
~ it will grow to the top and then go down
~ there will be an explosion
When we did the experiment again, things got a little more FIZZY!!!
The kids loved the experiment and enjoyed watching the colours bubble over. They will really enjoy our next colour explosion experiment which involves lots and lots of BUBBLES!!!
